Aurora Ice Association with the Town of Aurora Department of Parks and Recreation sponsored SUMMER SKATING PROGRAMS last summer. The programs were held in August at the Amherst Pepsi Center. The youth learn-to-skate program went well, with learners from three years old to "thirty-something". The Sunday Family Open Skate was a very enjoyable time, with seventy skaters enjoying the cool of the Olympic-sized main rink and music over the new sound system. The youth hockey mini-camp had to be cancelled due to low registration.
Thanks to volunteer coach Tom Bauer, and the volunteer assistants Jenelle Bauer and Matt O'Shea, and thanks to the various figure skaters, speed skaters, hockey skaters and moms and dads that turned out to make the day a success.
We can look forward to one more summer skating program at neighboring rinks next year, but the following summer plan to have the programs held at our Aurora rink!
