New Outdoor Pavilion Rink Approved
February 11, 2010
At the March 16th 2009 East Aurora Village Board meeting, the Trustees
unanimously approved the AIA Development Plan for a permanent outdoor
pavilion style rink with buildings for services. The temporary Classic
Rink used for this past season proved to be a very popular winter
attraction in the Village, hosting public skating sessions with over
15,000 admissions, hockey tournaments, games and practices, and
learn-to-skate events. The rink's activities over the season met with
the overwhelming approval of the public and the local merchants,
helping to pave the way for the Village's approval of a permanent
facility.
Construction can begin in summer 2010, if funding is secured.
News Update: -- Pavilion Roof Project Temporarily Put On Ice!
Our day-long "Telethon" style fundraiser at the rink on May 30th fell
short of our "Raise the Roof" million-dollar goal, in spite of
receiving hundreds of generous pledges from our supporters. The good
news is that those funds did cover many of the start-up architect's and
engineer's work so we are now prepared to move ahead quickly once the
remaining funds are secured. We thank everyone for their generous
support.
More News: -- Our Home Emergency Generator Raffle Winner
Warning Electric generously donated a 7 kW home automatic emergency
power generator for AIA to use as a fundraiser for the pavilion project, and the raffle was won by Ben Dodge, a local State Trooper. Congratulations Ben!
