The Aurora Ice Association, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has acquired title to the property at 41 Riley Street in the Village of East Aurora for the rink project. The site was a former concrete plant with retail sales in the heart of East Aurora's business district. Our mission is to build a first-class ice rink facility that serves the ice sports and recreational needs of East Aurora and the South-Town communities, while fostering regional, national and international competition in ice sports. AIA is not affiliated with or funded by the Town of Aurora or Village of East Aurora.
Plans for the property include an arena with two ice sheets, locker rooms, party and event areas, concessions, and a pro shop. The arena will provide a local venue for training and competition in ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating, and other sports, as well as recreational open skating for the youth and adults in the community. The target completion date for the project is Fall 2006.
In addition, the Aurora Ice Association is launching its Capital Fund Raising Campaign for the construction of the facility. Mr. Don Fishback has been named Chairperson of the Fund Raising Committee. The Committee will work hand in hand with Cian Robinson of Robinson Ventures, LLC, who has been retained as our fundraising counsel. Corporations or individuals interested in supporting the project can contact Don or any AIA board member
