The Aurora Ice Association property at 41 Riley Street was home to a deteriorating, burned-out condominium creating safety hazards for our children and leaving an eyesore for our residents. On Saturday, April 30th, a crowd of about 400 rink supporters and neighbors came to the site to celebrate the razing of the condo in spite of the rain and cold. Free hot dogs, pop, celebrity speakers, SabreTooth, and taking slap-shots at the building helped warm the crowd. [Photos are posted on the GALLERY page]
This was the first step in preparing the property for the planned rink, but much work lies ahead. Architects and engineers are now being brought on board to design the new rink, and prepare the necessary drawings and documents to begin the Village approval process.
